Fw mk4 / mk4s 6.2.4 upgrade core
Good evening everyone,
I have a quick question: My core one upgrade kit and my mk4 to mk4s upgrade arrived yesterday.
Now my question: Is firmware 6.2.4 for the mk4 identical to that for the mk4s? Or do I really have to first
convert the mk4 to the mk4s, install the firmware, and then immediately disassemble and reassemble the core?
Or can I skip that and just disassemble the mk4 and start building the core one (it has firmware 6.2.4 for the mk4)? The assembly instructions don't indicate this.

If I recall correctly you have to install the mmk4 -> mk4s upgrade first. Then do the firmware upgrade. Then, lastly do the mk4s -> core one upgrade.
I assume that if you have the time to read the assembly manuals for the upgrades, you'll find unnecessary steps, for example mounting the psu at the last steps of the mk4s upgrades. But in that case, it would be faster just to do the upgrades in order

i`m in the same situation. But i recall , that we only have to install 6.2.4 before dissassembling the mk4.
(Other than the new wifi module and NFC-Tag there are no new electronis from 4 to 4s.)
I`will do it that way, when my kit arrives in 2 weeks (hopefully)

I have seen posts from people that forgot to upgrade the MK4S firmware before converting. They were still able to do the upgrade to the newer MK4S firmware after the conversion, by unplugging some cables on the buddy board. Not sure, but think it was the chamber fans. And then upgrade to the CoreOne firmware.
You may need to follow the MK4 to MK4S upgrade for the nextruder though. Think they changed some parts in that. For the rest, just check the post disassemble pictures of the parts you need from the MK4S to make sure you have everything.

Actually, I already suspected that I could upgrade directly from the mk4 to the core.
The mk4 is already disassembled, and I'll start building the core this weekend. I just
don't know if I'll be able to do it all in one day. But I'll definitely let you know in this post
if everything went well. I'll also add a comment in the assembly instructions. I think
I'm not the first, and certainly not the last, to ask this question.

My MK4S to CoreOne conversion took me like 20 hours, over multiple days. It's best not to rush and doublecheck things to make sure you are doing them right.
