RE:
The software/firmware have 5mm margin to compensate the XY missalign with Z.
Because of these the MBL makes two levelings, one on the print area and another on a corner.
You can replicate this, put 2mm spacer on whatever stepper and print large object, you will notice now the printer compensates these 2mm.
Not terrible, not great, works....
Yes, I would print some u shaped spacers the correct thickness and put them there. I'm kinda surprised there is no way to adjust this. If the bed is not square to the X/Y assembly no amount of software compensation can fix it. It could make a successful print, but the bottom of your part will not be square to the bottom.
Another way to check squareness of the bed to the xy would be to move the bed to the top, then manually move the head to the 4 corners and center and using a piece of paper, check clearance between the nozzle and the bed.
Even better would be to use feeler gauges to measure the distance and then you would know how thick to make your spacers.
RE: Front Z steppers, 1-2mm of missaling, impossible to recover
For now i let the firmware to do his job, but i continue to search where the 1.5mm can be.
I try to lose all the XY screw, maybe the platform is highe on one side, but doesn't change anything.
All the pieces right and left have the same size. it's a mystery xD
RE: Front Z steppers, 1-2mm of missaling, impossible to recover
Same issue here can't even get a print off as the toolhead won't touch the bed in some sections causing the bed levelling to fail.
RE: Front Z steppers, 1-2mm of missaling, impossible to recover
Sorry, it is late here so maybe i misunderstand but what i did to correct my bed wasI think mine is:
- Moved bed up to just below the nozzle.
- Turn power off
- Manually moved the extruder to front left corner
- Place credit car between nozzle and bed
- Manually turn left screw so nozzle just touches credit card.
- Move extruder to front right. Slowly making sure nozzle doesn't dig into bed.
- Repeat nozzle credit card pinch at front right.
- Repeat nozzle credit card at rear z axis screw with extruder at rear centre.
- Move extruder to front left and front right to confirm level.

Hey Jon, have you seen this topic?
I think your issue might be related. Would you be able to test and comment in that topic?
Same question for the others with similar problems.
