Front fan

My “front “ fan never runs during printing, it starts up when I first turn on printer but then shuts off after 5-8 seconds

is that normal?  Sorry I am extremely new to the 3D printer world and seem to be having adhesion issues and am wondering if it might have something to do with the filament not cooling on the bed because the fan is not running

Thank you

Brian

RE: Front fan

Hi,

What do you mean by "Front Fan"? The Core One has 4 fans:

  1. Heatbreak fan: the little fan at the front of the print head, looking at you, when opening the door.
  2. Print fan: the small, but chunkier fan at the back of the print head, not really visible to the eye. It's a radial blower fan, pushing the air towards to print bed through the fan duct, to the nozzle.
  3. Chamber fans: in the rear of the Core One, two bigger fans, moving the air out of the printer.

Fan issue

I think they call it the print head fan. On my printer the only two fans I can see, One is on the left hand side and runs all the time, the one facing the front of the machine and tipped down at a slight angle is the one that starts and then shuts off after 5-8 seconds

Fan check

I have run a fan check on it and it says the fans are working properly

What printer model do you have? This section of the forum is specifically about the CORE One -- and that machine's front-facing fan, while mounted on the print head, is not tilted but exactly vertical.

RE: Front fan

Yep, you don't have a Core One, so your thread is in the wrong forum.

But to answer your question anyway: the print fan (tilted and at the front for your printer) is only activated after the first layer and might not run for some additional layers, depending on the filament preset. So if the test says it's fine, then it's probably fine.

What filament (and preset) are you using? Adhesion issues is one of the most common problems with 3D printing and can be caused by a lot of different things. Filament not being sticky on the build plate you're using, wrong temperatures, difficult object geometry, too much wind around the printer etc. etc.

Please tell us your printer model, so we can "report" your thread to get it moved to the correct forum by the moderators. After that, people that know more about your exact printer will be more helpful, than here.
