Core One suddenly struggling to print - underextrusion/clicking 15% through a print

Hello all,

I got a Prusa Core One XY a few months ago and it printed fine in PETG, PLA and ABS for about a month. For reasons I don't understand, it began failing to extrude about 15% the way through a print using Prusa Slicers generic COREXY 0.4mm HF profile and generic PLA profiles, with CORE ONE 0.2mm layer height speed and balanced. It gets to a certain height (or volume, or time) in a print, specifically benchy but has happened on other models too, then it stops extruding and I hear clicking.

Printing the demo benchy gcode from the USB gets far/finishes but with severe quality issues; large gaps in walls, underextrusion on the roof of benchy and the nozzle catches the chimney and swirls that around.

  • Updating firmware
  • 2 cold pulls, although i couldnt match this 1:1 with prusa's instruction since i could not push filament through manually with the idler disengaged, had to make the extruder motor extrude.
  • Heater nozzle test failed last week but seems to pass now
  • Fans seem to be working and pass test
  • Other models
  • Other filament
  • Drying filament
  • Verifying idler screws are flush
  • Importing Gcode from (un-ideal) demo benchy, printer

see below, top is using slicer gcode where it just stops extruding, bottom is the demogcode

RE: Core One suddenly struggling to print - underextrusion/clicking 15% through a print

I experienced similar behaviour on my XL5 using the HF 0.4mm profiles. I found that some filament cannot print at high extrusion speeds. I had the same clicking noise. I also have a Core One but have not had this experience. However, I have reduced the volumetric flow from 21 to 18 for some of the filaments. When I did this for the XL, it corrected the problem

Might be worth a shot on the Core One if you have not done so already.
