1. Square the gantry !

2. Tension the belts. Anything like 80Hz will be ok.

3. Test the square of the gantry: https://www.printables.com/model/1143218-vernier-skew-test  

4. If the test result is positive, let the tension screws untouched. Otherwise shows the test, which screw to turn (slightly)

I does it this way, and I had/have still no problems with the belts.

I think the discussion on this topic has gotten heated.

The cause actually lies in the incorrect alignment of the gantry, because the mounting brackets are inaccurately bent (not exactly 90 degrees).

For the benefit of others, this was answered in a different thread. For comparing the strobed method to the "plucked" method, the position of the head has to be the same. When running the strobe tuner in alpha firmware, it moves the print head to the home positions and locks it there. When comparing to the previous method of plucking the belts and then measuring the frequency with the belt tuning app, the head has to be in the same position (home position) or the results will be different. A mistake some are doing is manually moving the head to the right front corner (255,0) which will give a different reading.  I've verified by using the belt tuning wizard in firmware and comparing it to plucking the belts (with the head in the same positions) I get the same values for the upper and lower belt.

I didn't find it particularly hard to figure out since I used the audio belt tuner to first get a reading and then setting the belt vibration frequency to the same and then turning the dial +/- 1 hz and seeing the effect, it's quite noticeable as a slow sine wave. But then even if you are off by 1 hz it really doesn't matter. My suggestion is that if you are still uncertain to maybe wait until the beta version is out and when proper documentation is available.

Using the new belt tuning stroboscop the stepper gives vibration on the belt. The strob lets the belt seemingly stand still. When turning the knob watch the belt and choose the setting, where the belt is most bent (highest amplitude), and then press confirm and do the next belt... 

All is quiet easy when understood. 

For everything else just follow the instructions on the screen and take a shot of the qr code that appears.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. The strobe is slightly out of sync, there is also only 0.5hz resolution. The belts don't stop but there is a slow oscillation when you are close the belt's resonant frequency. The QR code for now takes you the alpha release page. There are no detailed instructions available yet.

If the strobe can't make the belt freeze totally, so it should give enough of a hint where the frequenz ist. I find the 0.5Hz resolution quite ok for that purpose. Digital tuning always happens in steps, unfortunely, but gives the reference.

If you want the belt to absolutely run synce with the strobe, you would need to adjust the belt a bit. Sort of same when tuning a guitar.

Not sure if it makes any difference though, i.e. it doesn't need to be that accurate. You could be off by a few hertz and I suspect the results (print) would be the same.

Lol I am still do not understand how this works. I get the gyst of it, but one thing is guessing and the other one is knowing you are doing it right. 

I gave up and went with the old method of stringing the belt with extruder in the right corner. Seems a lot easier to me this way. 

That said, since the new FW, the machine does 8 BANGS rather than the old 4 I use to get. I did the belts just like I always do so I did not change that, the belts are 98 and 92 respectively. Another thing, after tuning the belt this way (old method) I then compare to the new functionality and the belt barely move, they do so however a little bit and have a bit of a 'wave', but minimal. I gave up trying to understand this method, the instructions are just not clear so I will go back to it once they become a little bit more straight forward.

Alpha releases are really only meant for internal testing by Prusa's developers. Or at least that's how it's supposed to be. They are generally not released to the public. The fact they release to the public so early is unusual.  Next are the beta releases. Generally these are the ones given to the public for early testing and are supposed to be a lot more stable. No new features added, just bug fixes. Then the release candidates are made available in which all the documentation and other instructions will be made available. Generally these have (or should have) very minor fixes like language translation errors, typos etc or any serious bug fixes that didn't get caught in the beta releases. 

Again, my advice is to wait until the beta release is available. There should hopefully be better documentation by then. Remember the alpha releases are supposed to be unstable, incomplete and will break. That's just how it is.

You tune for maximum belt deflection.
