Buddy 3D Camera not connecting to Wifi with $ in password

The Core One (assembled) has connected to my WifI with no issues, only a few meters away from the printer.

The camera refuses to connect after multiple attempts using the app and QR code.

Setup a guest WiFi network with no $ in the password, and the camera connects on first attempt.

Is there an issue with special characters on the camera? I've had this before with other devices.

Not your issue but similar, on the printer itself I am not able to use NFC when the SSID contains an accent like "é" in it, it becomes "?".

It appears that special  characters and spaces are not allowed in the WIFI password with the firmware level 3.01.  It is should be fixed in level 3.04.

Thank you, I am already on 3.04, I was hoping there was a later revision 🙁

Seriously. I can't setup the camera because my network password has special characters in it?!  WTF

I just wasted a crap ton of time for no reason...?

So no idea whether the password is still safe sensitive because I gave up and created another wireless… but the SSID is 100% case sensitive.

I guess my next question is how to figure out what the firmware revision on the camera happens to be…

...and the firmware shows up in the camera pane for the printer. Does it update automatically?

Hi GBMaryland, I have been struggling as well. I am pretty sure the camera updates automatically over WiFi. So no connection no update - feels like the "hole in my bucket song," off to create a different connection for the camera...

RE:

I have special characters in my WiFi password including ‘$’ and ‘!’ was able to connect the camera. At first I didn’t read past the first page of the instructions and didn’t know to press the reset button to start the QR scanning process.

This solved it for me!! Pressing the reset button (not the blue one near the lens, but the small one on the side of the camera) started the QR code scanning

RE: Buddy 3D Camera not connecting to Wifi with $ in password

I was having issues connecting to my Wifi and came across this thread. I also came across this page: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/buddy3d-camera_821264 where in the comments someone goes into detail as to what they tried out to get things working.

As said here before special characters don't work. You need to create a network with a password with no special characters and get the camera to connect to it and then update to the latest firmware version (currently 3.1.0 as of writing). Even after updating I couldn't connect to my network as my password included a $.

The comment in the page I've linked to noted they tried escaping the $ character on the page where you set your wifi details, before it creates a QR code. So instead of something like myP$ssword you would put myP\\$word and this worked for me. I want to note that I had other special characters in my network password and I didn't need to escape them. I just needed to escape the $ character in my password.

Welp, now that I got the camera to work now I need to figure out why my Core One assembled build won't pass the Y-Axis test even after belt calibration 😭
