XL and Core Belt. Are they the same??
Does anyone know if the belts used on the XL are the same as used on the Core One, except for length? I would like to use the XL belts on a Core One for easier installation then trim to length.

They are the same (2GT belts, 6mm wide, 2mm teeth), but then my question would be why? Are you having a problem with your existing belts? If you are finding that the provided belts are "too short" then you are probably doing something wrong with the routing.

It is more about my hands. I have big and arthritic hands. I fumbled with the short exposed teeth a lot, and it is frustrating and time-consuming. I don't mind paying for longer OG belts then trimming them. I spent hours getting the originals installed, and by the time I had them working, my hands were sore. I resorted to purchasing a roll of GT2 that looks the same, but I am having a layer shift on large, wide prints and cannot get the Y-axis to pass, so I am going to replace the belt material I purchased with some OG Prusa belts for the XL just to see if that is my problem.

Usually if the Y axis is not passing and you have layer shifts, that means either the belts are too loose, the gantry is bent or both. I would start by completely loosening the belts and check that the gantry is still square. Then follow this guide closely: Adjusting belt tension then most important point is that the gantry needs to start off square/parallel to the front of the frame and the belt tension screws need to be tightened by exactly the same amount and never independently.
Until the Y calibration passes, expect layer shifts.
