The 6.4.0-alpha firmware is awesome (so far)
Took the plunge. Here's what I found so far
- Installation - no issues
- Immediately noticed that the head bangs are greatly reduced on auto-homing, I think I counted just 4 total. Before the print it goes back to the previous head bang routine.
- The belt tuner wizard. This is a game changer with the strobe versus past methods. It is very easy to get the belts dialed in now. Took me a little bit of practice to spot the right resonance but now it's super intuitive. I checked the frequency of the belts afterward using the belt tuner and they were both 98/92.
- Minor bug with Prusa Connect. I sent g-code to be printed immediately and it just sat queued up instead of starting the print. Sent it again and it went through.
- Filament loading is a bit faster. Looks like the nozzle is being preheated.
- Noticed there is a cold pull wizard. I don't remember seeing it on the previous firmware (or maybe I just didn't look)
Anyway, just finished a test print and it looks good.

Yeah just noticed this was out. I'll be trying the strobe thingy a bit later.
Currently running rc of Prusaslicer, and soon an alpha of Core One firmware 😂...I normally avoid alpha and most beta releases but this is too tempting.

The new firmware is a step in the right direction.
The tuning wizard shows the path of where things should go.
I just have the following problem:
According to the tuning wizard, my upper belt is at 98Hz and my lower belt at 96.5Hz.
But when measuring the frequency (with different apps), I always get 96Hz on the upper belt and 92Hz on the lower belt.
So, who should I trust now?
