Shipping cost.............

Hi Folks,

I have just ordered 3 Fan Shrouds for my Core-1 printer. The website cost for 3 units was US$10.77 (Order number 1767822097).

My complaint is with the cost of shipping, US$42.17 (Fedex)......  Considering the package weighs maybe 100grams.

By the time I had to pay (via Paypal) it gained momentom  to NZ$95.62.......

THERE SHOULD BE A THIRD PARTY SHIPPING AGENT FOR FAR LESS COST. I DONT MIND WAITING A FEW DAYS/WEEK FOR A LOWER COST DELIVERY.

Regards Dave Markham.(New Zealand)

Or you could have picked up a roll of PC-CF and printed your own.

Delivery is a killer. I can add up to 3kg of Prusament without increasing from the minimum delivery fee so there's quite some optomisation possible.

And their local "distributors" (in Oz at least) don't materially soften that cost hit for the heavier items, which I'd expect is possible with bulk freighting it in. It's a shame especially since most of their competition has the advantage of not having to come as far.

Yeah, that's why I always add filament to small orders.

It's the one reason why I try to avoid ordering directly from Prusa if I can. Shipping costs are crazy!

I ordered the Core One+ upgrade and added a roll of Prusament PC Blend.  That made the high shipping cost feel less painful. 🙂
This isn't Prusa pulling highway robbery, it's the shipping companies.  I recently got smacked for over USD $30 in additional charges for a 200g package sent to the UK where I got the postcode wrong (I blame the wife's handwriting).

Careful what you wish for ... in the UK the 'alternative courier' is DHL which usually ends up being fulfilled by 'EVRI' (I believe they are branded as 'Hermes' outside the UK) they are ABYSMAL ... tracking doesn't work / packages abandoned on the doorstep / packages lost - I ordered a roll of filament, it got lost(they claimed they couldn't find the address - despite delivering parcels from a different vendor in the interim), they wouldn't talk to me - insisted I go back to Prusa(as they, not me were their 'customer'), eventually (2-3 months later) Prusa sent me another roll. I always opt for Fedex these days - the price for their cheapest service is usually pretty close to DHL anyway.

Unfortunately, you are about as far from them as can be. When I buy stuff to ship here to the US, I buy two rolls or filament. The shipping cost is about the same, about $22 USD. I recently bought the Core One Plus Upgrade kit and it was about $10 with $17 shipping. I added two rolls of fancy filament for a total of about $100 of stuff and the shipping was about $22. That is much less painful.

They will never be able to beat the shipping costs of Chinese suppliers. They are subsidized and are very efficiently set up for outbound shipping, and you are close.

Regards,

Mark

Speaking of which. I had a package held by USPS and sent back to the shipper due to "counterfeit postage". One guess where that package originated from...

Valid points, but to the OP's original example, adding a shipping option for small packages that doesn't cater for the 2-3kg minimum would make it far better.
