Prusa airtight / exhaust - custom duct ventilation
- I see Core one comes with two fans at the back and an adjustable vent. I'm wondering how air tight the enclosure would be with the door and vent closed as I would want to connect a duct on the back to get the air out of the house. Potentially add extra fan inside the vent. Seems like easier option than upgrading my Mk4 and building an enclosure
RE:
I currently have the MK4 with the Original Enclosure. The Original Enclosure is quite leak'y, but it's able to be plugged up thanks to parts other users so graciously uploaded on Printables. I hope the Core One is essentially air tight (or close to it) when printing with the adjustable vent closed, otherwise I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable printing ASA (or other hazardous materials) with is since I'll be having the printer in my living space. The air filter in the Original Enclosure does wonders to clean the air (I've got an air quality measurer right outside the enclosure) but in order for the air filter to be effective, the enclosure needs to be at least moderately air-tight.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe it's possible to get it airtight with some modifications
RE: Prusa airtight / exhaust - custom duct ventilation
If you're going to vent outside the room/building, then having some "leaks" in the enclosure is a good thing to introduce the fresh air to replace the vented air. You should get zero emissions into the room if there is negative pressure inside the enclosure.

RE: Prusa airtight / exhaust - custom duct ventilation
It would require your own modification - even if you close the vents, you have the fans at the back - so still no air tight. However, as mentioned above, you wouldn't want a completely air tight chamber anyways.....you just want a temperature regulated chamber with no drafts - that doesn't mean air tight.
