Mk4s old xLCD upgrade kit out of stock
I wanted to buy the upgrade kit to CO but i have the MK4S with the old xLCD which is out of stock and i have no clue if it's going back (it's been awhile since i signed to be notified if it's back).
It's possible to use the regular upgrade kit or i could have same problem whit it (aka missing components, not long enough cable...)? Thanks!

I had the old style display so I ordered the proper upgrade kit. The difference is that you have a 3d printed display cover along with the newer, molded, one. In the original assembly instructions you had different steps for the old and the new versions of the display, but you could still use the newer cover on the old display (looks much better, so I did it on my printer). In the current version of the assembly guide ( https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/8-trim-door-xlcd_1004209#1020337) there is no separated steps anymore. It looks like you do not need to order the special "old display" upgrade any longer.

Great, i knew about the newer cover but i though there was something else, i'll get the upgrade then! thanks
Although having the option for old and new xLCD is confusing if there's no diference anymore

Indeed confusing. I was also wondering about the whole old vs new display when it turnes out that the new cover is absolutely compatible with the old display. My understanding is that the back side was the biggest issue and was redone to cover both old and new...
You may want to check with Prusa support to be 100% sure...

I have the old xLCD from my launch MK4 and got in on the upgrade kit during Black Friday to get the free shipping. Grabbed the new xLCD kit as I figured that I could just use a printed cover instead, but to my surprise it did indeed work. There are three caveats to it however:
1. Only 3 of the 4 screws holding the cover screw in correctly - the newer xLCD's top-left screw where it connects the grounding faston did not bite, but it works fine without it so I didn't bother investigating further
2. While the new xLCD mould has space for a nut on the underside of the display (where the faston connects on the old version), it doesn't have a cutout that would stop it from spinning. You'd have to screw it in from the other side before putting the xLCD into the front mould, then connect the grounding faston cable like normal
3. I've noticed there's about a mm or two cutoff of the right side of the screen. Not sure if this is unique to me or a quirk of the xLCD, but its far from a problem. Just slightly cuts off the scrollbar and whatever is in the footer if 5 items are enabled
Overall though it's been working great, just need a little bit of creative thinking to get it together. The rear housing that connects the front panel to the machine is compatible with both so it's really only the front cover that's a problem. You can also just print out your own one too, plenty of great designs on Printables!
