RE: Bondtech INDX Nozzle Selection

Regarding 4 vs 8, I think I read you can incrementally add extra "heads", you don't have to jump to 8 from 4, but instead add one or two more to suit your needs..

But the 8-tool configuration will not only include the four extra tools, but also extra parking docks, spool holders, filaments sensors etc.

That's why I caved in and went for the 8.

RE: Bondtech INDX Nozzle Selection

I just got my order in for the 4-tool package, no extra nozzles yet. Four tools online, four spools in an external dryer seems like the right setup for my intended use. I will decide later whether and which extra tools make sense, based on software support and early user feedback.

I may just only install 4 and keep 4 in reserve. Don't know yet. It was "only" $200 extra. Still trying to work out how to spin this with my wife... "You spent how much on parts???"

"But it was a unique opportunity to buy this stuff before it actually works!"

RE:

$14,81 Paypal fee (no warning of that, don't know if a credit card would be more or less)

I had to pay those, too (or didn't, because I chose direct transfer), but generally speaking it is forbidden in the EU to pass the fees for PayPal/Credit Card etc. on to the customer... I think someone should tell them...

Since it's € to SKR they can pass some fees along, but not all of them.

I can't edit any more: Since I can pay in € there should not be any fees for Credit Card and only a minor fee for PayPal. Everything else is not legal in the EU ( https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/DE/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32015L2366), but somehow nobody has ever complained (I am no lawyer though, so take it with a grain of salt, but I know it from my own store).

At least for Germany, Paypal does not fall within the scope of the EU directive as transposed into German law. That's according to a 2021 supreme court ruling, BGH I ZR 203/19.

But I always understood that Paypal's own contracts prevent sellers from passing on Paypal fees to the buyers as an explicit surcharge. That practice harms Paypal's business after all, since it encourages buyers to opt for alternative, cheaper payment methods.

This is incredibly great information, thanks! 🙂 But you are right, PayPal forbids it in every country. So Bondtech should not be allowed to collect it, as far as I understand.

We (I) am derailing the conversation though, sorry about that.

I am happy as soon as I got my INDX. 🙂

I think a required room of ~ 28 mm in Y was mentioned at FormNext, of which 18 mm are extra, "negative Y" space in the stock Core One. So the nominal printable space gets reduced by ~ 10 mm. I have not seen any mention of losses in X and Z, but no explicit "no reduction" guarantee either.

Well, Bondtech just gave us an extra four weeks for derailing things at our hearts' content. 😉

Me being a "glass half-empty" sort of person, I bet it's going to be more like 2 months... Can imagine their Formlabs SLS printer melting down... Meanwhile would be nice if they at least post their macros and post processor so we can have a play in the meantime.

I think that's what I'm likely to do. I was planning to go with 4 toolheads but when I was looking  at the ordering screen I couldn't keep my fingers from clicking on 8 😇😇😇

Installing all 8 just seems to affect visibility too much

I transferred my money to them, so now I am trying to not stand at the window every day, whispering "Pakidge" to myself. 😛

I also wrote in the order to please exchange to of the 0.4mm nozzles with two 0.6mm ones. Let's see whether they are going to ignore it or whether they are going to tell me it does not work this way. 😀

Yep, Bondtech's credibility regarding their ship date forecasts has taken a hit. Just a week ago they wrote:

INDX pre-orders to our Founders are just a few days away. We'll open them next week.

This doesn't affect shipping dates, [...]

RE:

You guys seem really excited about the INDX. I wish for your sake that Bondtech/Prusa get it sorted in a few months  (say after summer, with a bit of luck ?..).

All things considered, I'm not interested. First, I feel no real need for multi material/color prints. Two: IMHO Installing the INDX on an existing design is not the best solution. The fact that the tools have to be located at the front is a total deal breaker for me. Last, but not least, I own no Prusa CoreXY printers and I don't intend to. Probably the INDX will be adapted to Voron printers sooner or later but, even then, I wouldn't buy it. Same problem: tools at the front, blocking the view and access to the printer for maintenance and such. Spool management is a problem too if the available space around the printer is very limited, as in my case.

That's all the reason you need to ignore the INDX. 😉

Personally I am looking forward to multi-material (e.g. dedicated support material) and occasional multi-color prints (e.g. translucent indicators in front panels). I do have a Core One, and found the horizontal bar that runs across the front right at the printing height much less problematic than I had originally assumed. I don't like the side-mounted spools and plan to place a four-spool dryer on a wall-mounted shelf just above the printer.

The first printers they demo'd this on where Vorons. Last July they were demonstrating it running on a V0.
