HF or not to HF - that is the question!

So I have a new HF Obxidion Nozzle sitting unused. Was tempted to install in my Core One, but undecided - until I know whether I'm bolting my MMU3 on or leaving it on my MK4s.

Personally, I don't see any real difference between a HF and a non-HF standard nozzle. Was considering selling teh HF and getting the non-HF version in case I do bolt on the MMU3......

What are your experiences/thoughts with HF and non-HF nozzles??

YMMV, probably. But for pretty much all products I make I don't see any meaningful  difference between HF or non-HF, so non-HF it is across all my printers.

RE:

You can easily play around with different profiles in PrusaSlicer to see what your projected times will be before you spend the money for another nozzle.

Unless you’re printing thicker layers >0.2mm or using wider nozzles >0.4mm you won’t see much faster speeds.  The trade offs, of course, are resolution and quality.

Then there’s the debatable issue of clogging.  Many people seem to have no clogging with HF nozzles but a significant number have, especially with composite filaments.  It is clear, however, that clogged HF nozzles are much harder to clean out; several users have reported having to replace them.

I use a standard Obxidian 0.4 for pretty much everything I print.

I have an HF Obxidian. I'm printing mostly Pla & Petg,  and a lot of sparkly filament.

The only real difference I've seen compared to the brass HF is that for every filament I use I've had to raise the printing temp by about 5 to 10 degrees compared to the brass HF, otherwise I'd get underextrusion.

More or less the same with the non HF on prusa mk4.

Having said that, if you don't plan on using abrasive filaments, either one is a waste of money imho.

Would you say its needed for sparkly and marble filaments??

I mainly use PLA and PETG also, but am a sucker for sparkly and marble as they hide imperfections and layer lines well!

If all you use is "structural" settings. There is no differnce. All other printing types can be faster with thicker layers etc. From experience filled fillements can clog the HF nozzle. So why a hardened HF nozzle? There are some abrasive non-filled filaments, glow in the dark is one.
For general use I use the HF nozzle. For filled filaments I want the diamond nozzle.

I don't know about marble texture, I have a roll but haven't used it yet.

Typically the filament wil mention a hardend nozzle if needed (eSun does that for examle).    If they don't, I would assume they need an obxidian.
