First hands on experiences Prusa CORE One

Hi everyone. I've received the new CORE One 4 days. Here are my first impressions  and experiences of the pre-assembled printer. I am a heavy 3D Printing user since 2012 and owner of various other Prusa Printers:

Unboxing, assembly, and setup:

  • the printer and add ons are very well and secure packaged
  • unboxing is very ease
  • printer is solid and nicely manufactured
  • I was surprised about the weight: ~22 kg (compared to 7 kg of the MK4s)
  • clear instructions in printed form or qr-code to the online instructions
  • one pack of Haribo > thanks a lot, I've enjoyed it 🙂
  • printer self-check understandable and worked smoothly

Areas of improvement / proposals:

  • pinter was almost plug-and-play, only the LCD panel had to be installed > I had difficulties to attach the grey xLCD cable to it because the cable was very short (if it would be 2 cm longer would be much better)
  • connecting the printer via the Prusa App to the smartphone via NFC worked very well. I only didn't know where the NFC antenna at the printer is (not written in the printed guideline)
  • the power switch is at the back, hence not ease to reach (I'd prefer it it would be at the side)

First impressions and prints:

  • the two rear fans of the enclosure are quite loud (from my perspective too loud to print in an office environment)
  • print speed and quality are excellent (~10-15% faster than the MK4 from first few prints)
  • printing stops when the front door is opened (default setting for safety reasons. I've turned it off in the setup menu e.g. to quickly remove filament residues from the calibration at the beginning or oozed filament...)

Overall I am very happy with the printer up to now. Kudos the the whole Prusa team 🙂

How are your first experiences?
