Core One - amazing!

Just wanted to document a success story - this printer is amazing and Prusa support is wonderful.   A minor glitch while tensioning belts was fixed with help 2 days ago and a few hours later the printer was - printing! So far* I'm only printing supplied parts but the "bonkers" Benchy (the boat) was amazing - less than 10 minutes, and the spatula (useful) came out perfect too.  * Oh, forgot, I have printed one of my own - from the Prusa Academy 3D modelling tutorial - the Lego (tm!) brick which came out absolutely perfect (in PETG), it fits perfectly with existing Lego, amazing!   I look forward to greater things soon ....

Well done - this is where it all starts!!

Did you go for assembled or the kit? I'm guessing it's the former? Nothing wrong with either choice, but was just interested to know! I always find the learning process by building the kit adds valuable knowledge, and its a fun process too!

Kit. Very impressed by instructions and pictures etc. Could give Prusa a few tips though on better use of English in places. Looking forward to a few mods to include a dry box at least. Kind of surprised Prusa don't do that as an option, having gone to all the trouble with the enclosure. Any reason why they wouldn't? Absolutely the best tip re assembly someone gave (I forget who) was to put two (not one) sheets of cardboard (salvaged from the Prusa boxes) under the unit. It's then very easy to spin the whole device to face the way you need for assembly. My fingers took a while to recover from the nylon rivets!  The supplied tools were a nice surprise and generally excellent.

Prusa seems to be about providing a vanilla printer and allowing the community to provide the enhancements.

RE: Core One - amazing!

Just finished my core one kit build.  Only printed the two benchys on the usb stick so far,  but amazing (for speed benchys).

With the number of posts of issues on here, I was pleased to have no problems.  Perhaps instructions have improved, but even belt tensioning with the app website didn't seem to be a problem.

Need to move the printer from the dining room table to its proper home then see what it can do!

Being last is definitely an advantage when it comes to this printer. Had I received the CoreOne kit even 2 months before I originally received it (end of June) I would have taken a sledgehammer to it. Even then, I really didn't have a printer that surpassed my MK4 until after 6-8 weeks of tweaking and bug fixing.

Note that this "number of issues" is in fact a veeeery small percentage of sold printers. Not many (if at all) happy users report here.  DMartin is one among the very rare ones. Happy users are quiet and speak here only when (if) there's a problem. This creates some sort of non-realistic image of TERRIBLE problems with the  printer, while in fact they could be very minor.

And, what's even worse: many new topics describe the same problem... (people just don't read existing topics and solutions, but they immediately publish a new one when they have a problem)

RE: Core One - amazing!

I'm speaking here with no problems.   Probably over 30 hours on my newly built kit so far; my 9 yo son decided to print a ukulele!  So straight in with a 12 hour print as about the third thing it ever printed.  I'd say it prints at least as well or better than the Mk4s at work; and I feel happier about printing tall things which always look worrying on a bed slinger.
Not used the accelerometer for tuning yet.   Printer has been too busy printing.

I don't have any (noticeable) problems yet, too. But, what i'm trying to say is that only bad things build up here. It would be good to know how many printers (kit and/or assembled) were sold until start - only then we could see if there are actually any major problems with the printer.

OK, but then imagine that this forum was, instead of English, Mandarin. Now you have a problem with your printer. Imagine how difficult it will be to scan all the previous posts looking for your particular issue when you don't know the language. Sure, can use machine translation but that only get's you so far. I suppose though if your native language is English then it's easier to find older topics however that also doesn't come naturally to someone who hasn't been on a forum before. In my case, I'm an IT professional so I'm used to searching for an answer and then only creating a new topic when necessary or when it would otherwise necro a thread.

Another thing. I wasn''t aware of this forum until I got my Core One and started having problems. I had a MK4S before that but never had an issue with it so no need to come here. I only bumped into this forum after I was on chat with customer service and they couldn't solve my problem. At first I ended up on Reddit, but that place is a cesspool on a good day.

Exactly what i'm trying to say: number of bad experiences is highly overrated and pumped up, because it's not compared to people with good experiences.

My point though is we don't know how many people with bad experiences know about the existence of this forum. Nor do we really no how many "good" printers there are. Only customer support and QC teams know that. Anything else is just speculation. But then, this is also true of Yelp reviews. It's always going to be skewed negative.

But going back to my original point, if my native language was Japanese or Korean, and I had a problem, I probably wouldn't be hanging out here anyway.

RE: Core One - amazing!

I did an upgrade from my mk4s and, by reading a number of contributions both in the "assembly notes" and posts in this forum, my printer doesn't have a problem. It simply work. Yes it has some VFAs but this is not impacting my printing in any way. I did ASA and flex (tpu 98a) beyond the normal PETG and PCBlend I usually do and all went perfectly.

I am not a newbie (mk3 to s, mk4 to s) so I knew what to expect and I am forever grateful for the insight that a bunch of people shared on their experience that probably made my upgrade a success from the start.
