Core-1 camera software/capabilities.....

Hi Folks,

When can I expect to be able to control the printer over the internet ?

Specificly  to be able to stop/switch power off over internet ? (In case the printer has a meltdown & need to be stopped.

Regards Dave Markham. (New Zealand)

RE: Core-1 camera software/capabilities.....

Hi,

The power supply has a hard mechanical switch on the AC input side. So, no power rails for any control are available when switched off. This is good in that it pulls the mains on the printer so catastrophic failure can always be stopped. Soft power controls internal to the supply aren't really safe nor do they exist.

Meltdown can be from a lot of sources. Supply, motors, bed, hot-end, print fail, SW crash, etc so why not cover them all.

I'd suggest one of the many smart plugs that are available. Independent control may not be convenient, but it's always best as a failsafe.

You can do that today, you can stop prints via the Prusa app and you can power off via a smart plug.

Or use Prusa Connect to stop the print. Works as well. And putting the printer on a smart plug as andhson suggested is highly recommended.

Prusa Connect is pretty full featured. You can stop it and you can change some settings too, I think temps. You can also see camera snapshots.

If you are paranoid, I put together an automatic mains power off when a smoke detector goes off.
