RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
Well.. The location they have you install it is a overhead view from the left corner - the gantry and print head block most of the video. I mean you can do a quick check to see if the print a failed (but can't really see if a corner had curled like you can with camera with a view at the bed level)
Here is a view from my camera - its a little less then desired (to put it nicely, and not even including its a 10 second snapshot, not a video feed - or that its in black and white).
Oh no! I regret ordering this. That view is terrible. Why even bother? Is this really representative of the view? I've seen folks retrofit random cameras that seem better-positioned than that.
RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
With the earlier firmware at the end of the print the printer would park the print head at the front-right of the printer so the x gantry would obstruct the camera as you see in the picture. The latest firmware parks the head in the back-right so that it doesn't obstruct the view. Obviously during the print depending on where the print head is when the picture is taken the view can be obstructed.

Anyone else have issues with the camera after a power cycle? Mine stops updating in Prusa Connect and I have to remove it and then re-pair it to get it working again. While I usually keep my printer powered on it is still kind of a pain.
RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
Hello everyone,
I ordered the upgrade kit and a camera on February 1, 2025, and I don't have a batch number yet.
So, the device is waiting for me.
RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
I have not ordered the Buddy Camera so far, since I found the frame rate and the dependency on PrusaConnect less than convincing. But with large prints, I am beginning to see the attraction of being able to take the occasional glimpse at my computer screen, rather than having to go downstairs to check that all is well.
How is the illumination handled with the Buddy Camera? Can the LEDs be dimmed and will automatically switch to full brightness for each exposure? Do you have to leave the LEDs at full brightness all the time? Or is the camera happy with the low light level from the dimmed LEDs?
RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
You can alter the Gcode of the printer so the gantry will move to the back once the print is finished. It is in the install instructions.
RE: Any one received the Buddy3D Camera?
i have the same issue. when i connect it i have some hours an update picture. after some hours or after a restart of the printer the connection lost and it dont reconnect.
