Accelerometer reduced noise during printing

Received the Accelerometer right before Xmas holidays.

After doing input shaper and phase stepping calibration noise level during printing (reduced vibration?) seems to be significantly reduced.

Could this be possible?

Yes, running the phase stepper calibration will significantly reduce noise from printer frame resonance.

RE:

Prusa should include this in INDX, since it upgraded it in Core oneL‘s nextruder

I'm disappointed that the + upgrade didn't include the accelerometer. Maybe in the (fictional) S upgrade?

It's tempting to think about a community design for a Nextruder back cover, where you can permanently mount the accelerometer on the print head. There should be plenty of room in the back, above the fan, and it would be a convenient place to route the cable into the main harness.

The PCB would have to sit horizontally though (I assume), to orient the accelerometer axes as the firmware expects them. So it would look a bit awkward, with a "wart" on the back of the Nextruder. And the standard cable included in the accelerometer kit is not long enough to route it via the main umbilical cord, so one would need to buy a longer one -- or cut the existing cable and solder in some extension wires.

Hmm, I am tempted to take a stab at that...

Hi, C1L has accelerometer already integrated. It is mounted on the "mount loveboard" part. So just modify this part for C1. The problem will be the short cable as mentioned here.

Many thanks -- you were quicker than me! I had just realized that the Core One L does not have a new Loveboard as I assumed, but just adds the accelerometer board as a separate part. And I was staring at the CAD models of the Core One L vs. regular print heads in Fusion...

It looks like it might not be enough to swap that single "Mount Loveboard" part, since Prusa made various tweaks to the Nextruder's printed parts. But I am curious now and will give that a try!

Extending the existing cable should be good enough for starters: Just cut the cable, solder in extension wires and isolate with heat-shrink tubing. It's probably best do do that near the xBuddy end of the cable, such that the section of the cable inside the umbilical cord is not patched.

Just remix the C1 "loveboard mount" part, no further changes are needed.

Yes, I realize that. But since I am lazy, I was wondering whether I could just print and install the C1L Loveboard mount. 😉
Looks plausible when I compare the two parts side by side (on the screen).
