RE: 6.4.0-RC Firmware for Prusa CORE One
Here we are getting really into the wishful thinking 😂 give me a stable release first with all the bugs ironed out and later sell me the S with INDX... 😁
RE:
I'm pretty sure 6.4.0 will be released on Nov 18. The reason it's not being released earlier is that it most likely contains references to the anticipated announcement of the INDX for Core One and (possibly) a Core One S (or something similar).
But wouldn't it be quite unusual for Prusa to have firmware for a new product ready on the day they announce the product? Firmware for the Core One and Core One L was only published when the first units were physically on their way to customers. And Prusa have released firmware for other printers in the months preceding the shipment, which apparently did not include any spoilers about the new products.
If I recall Bondtech's blog post correctly, they are targeting end of Q1 2026 for the INDX. Wishful Thinking Dept.: Maybe Prusa, while unable to get exclusivity on the INDX, have negotiated a headstart of a month or two for the Core One variants?
My point (I suppose) is that there is probably going to be an enhanced Core One announced (not necessarily INDX) and changes for that are already baked into the 6.4.0 firmware. The Core One L changes where already in place (in a separate 6.5.x branch) back in May which is why they didn't update the commits in the public repo until after the L was announced and those changes are now merged into master. It's clear Prusa maintain 2 git repos. An internal one and the public one to maintain appearances that they are still open-source. The last firmware drop for 6.4.0-RC was Sep 18. The only reason I can think of as to why there hasn't been RC1, RC2 drops is that it contains spoilers. Or they have 1 developer assigned putting in 80hr weeks... 🤯
