Sorry ... but not a good printer anymore

not sure if others have better experiences but for me CoreOne does not work well

from a charming MK4S to a not performing CoreOne (upgrade kit)

After 2-3 days of assembling I had to find out that I rather want my MK4S back, performance increases is eaten up by the bad end very long pre-print procedures and multiple ties to set it up, including endless banging into the "endstops" and nozzle calibration failures. Every removing of a print from the bed results in a misaligned Z-axis.

@prusa: are you sure this is your future? ... maybe I messed up the build but I build my MK3 with the Upgrades and also the MK4 and the MK4S upgrade, all from the kit but this does not work, sorry

RE: Sorry ... but not a good printer anymore

My unit (built from kit) seems to work pretty well most of the time TBH, but yes, it does take longer to get the print started. I do think it's a step in the right direction for Prusa, or maybe they were just forced into it because of the competition at this point, but I certainly think further refinement via firmware updates are still due. The Core One does seem a little rushed to the market and I do think us early adopters will suffer because of it, so always good to keep your options open at this point. We've reached an important step in 3D printing, what with all the toolchanging solutions on the horizon, so I would generally advise people to hold on any upgrades or purchases for the moment to see what comes, hopefully very soon now! Either way, I do hope Prusa come up with something 'special', since otherwise I fear they will be left too far behind the competition, especially when it comes to the multimaterial arena....

[...] very long pre-print procedures and multiple ties to set it up, including endless banging into the "endstops" and nozzle calibration failures.

I recommend installing firmware 6.4.0 RC and following the new procedure to adjust belt tension. The new stroboscope-based alignment is a pleasure to use, and the new instructions to adjust the belt tensioners symmetrically will avoid skewing the X gantry in the process. Please give this a try and follow the instructions closely. This should take care of the extended head-banging before the start of a print.

(There is still the "absorbing heat" delay. Some users have reported they disabled it without negative effects on the first-layer quality; I have left it in place to let the printer reach a thermal equilibrium. I find that my Core One prints so robustly that I can just send it a print job from upstairs and come pick up the print when it's done, so I do not have to wait out the startup procedure watching the printer -- that makes the delay more tolerable to me.)

Every removing of a print from the bed results in a misaligned Z-axis.

There is an observation in this thread that one may tilt the heatbed by exerting pressure on it while the motors are powered off. (Although I find that I don't exert sufficient force just when removing a typical print.) By default the motors stay on at the end of a print. Do you remove your prints in that state, or did you maybe power off the whole printer before?
