Printer will not extrude any filament

I just finished building my core one kit and passed all the calibrations. I started my first print with the PLA that came with the printer, but no filament came out. This is what I've done to try and troubleshoot:

  • Tried unloading and re-loading the filament multiple times. Every time it got to the step where it asks if it's the correct color, I don't see anything and no matter how many times I click "purge more" nothing comes out.
  • Tried to heat up the frontend and manually extrude. Nothing came out.
  • Tried re-running the gearbox alignment calibration multiple times
  • I noticed this whole time that the filament was never moving when I was extruding. I wondered if the gears were moving at all. I tried loading in some filament, opening the idler slightly so I could see the gears and extruding. The gears did not move at all. I tried unplugging and re-plugging the extruder motor but that did not help.

At this point, I'm not sure what to do. When I put the gearbox together there was a bit of resistance when spinning it, but looking at the comments other people had that too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solved it, I noticed that there was a newer version of firmware than the one that came on the usb. I figured I needed to update in anyway so I did that and now it's working.

For first build issues it's always best to contact Prusa Support via chat.

You will need your machine's serial number and possibly your order number.

Log into your Prusa account; on most browsers chat is at bottom right.

Cheerio,
