Glob of death and thermocouple is busted

Not sure what to do here.  Nozzle will not heat because the glob has done its job well and the thermocouple is also busted.  I have a heat gun on order, but I'm not sure if I need to remove the print head from the gantry.  If this fails, I'm not sure how to replace the print head either.  Anyone have experience and advice to offer here?

I use an old soldering iron to carve the bulk of the blob off. then hopefully you can disconnect the heater, and drop the nozzle and the remaining blob out, so that you can use the heatgun and a wire brush

using a heatgun inside the core one, may overheat other parts of the printer.

My last blob of doom, on a Mk3.9 which has the Nextruder, managed to glue the lower X axis Bearing retainer to the nozzle along with the blob...
I ended up, taking the bearing retainer piece off alonf with the nozzle, and parting them seperately.

be very careful to remove all of the waste material from the blob. because any waste that is stuck to the extruder heatsink assemble, could stop the Z axis Load cell responding during bed levelling. afterwards.

good luck, Joan

RE:

If that is PLA you should be able to soften enough with a hairdryer to be able to break off chunks. Also, if you can remove the fan shroud screws and loosen the thumbscrews you might be able to detach if from the print head.

Out of curiosity, were you using a V6 nozzle with adapter?

I was going to ask that exact question. That looks exactly like a classic failure to get the nozzle properly installed on a V6 hotend problem.😩
