first print on my core one + kit printing outside the model and messing up

After days of building and reading all the great and helpful instructions and remarks, yesterday I finally was ready for the first print. Decided to print one of the samples which where on the usb. Used the black pla sample which came with the printer. First I could not get the printer to load the filament. That was because the screws on the printhead for the idler where to tight. (what is the purpose of the idler thing?).

The printer started after checking the Homing and complaining about that it did not home ok, after I fixed that (i hope :))  I started the first print which was beginning good but when it speed up, it started to mess things up. It even started to print outside the object itself and I had to stop it. Why did this happen and where to start solving this?

the nozzle in your printer seems, compared to mine, to sit really low (look at where the air duct blows). Are you sure you pushed it completely up before fixing the thumb screws? btw those should be finger tight but enough that the nozzle doesn't slid out. In that case it would collide and possible create the mess you are seeing.

To your question: the idler controls the pressure applied to the filament to be guided in the extruder. Too tight and it will not move, too lax and the filament will slip. The guidance is to level the head of the idler tensioning screws with the edge below them (unless you are printing very soft flex filament, were different rules apply).

If homing did not pass then you really can't do a print until you fix it. My initial guess is that the belts are too loose or the gantry is skewed. Run the manual belt tension wizard first. Also, I suspect the nozzle and heat block isn't fully inserted into the heat sink. First check that it is correctly seated and that the thumbscrews are tight.
