Filament left hanging off the nozzle after every print
Hello all, this is my first post here. My awesome wife bought me a Prusa CoreOne+ for Christmas. I'm new to 3d printing but am a quick learner. I started printing with PLA and then got into some TPU, PC, and PP prints.
At first with PLA, I didn't have this issue. However, ever since I started using the other filament types, the printer always has a string of filament hanging from the nozzle after every print (see video below) - so far with TPU, PC, & PP. I haven't switched back to PLA yet but any ideas on how to resolve this? Is it supposed to purge some after every print and it just isn't separating from the nozzle or should it not be doing this at all? If it is supposed to purge, is there a way to have it purge into this purge bin? At first I thought it was just some settings I needed to figure out for TPU but when it continued to do it for PC & PP as well, now I'm wondering what changed from when it didn't do it with PLA.
Also has anyone one figured out how to have it automatically put the initial line it does in the front right corner into the purge bin as well? Or would that defeat the purpose because it needs to lay it on the build plate? Not a big deal really, just wondering.
Thanks!

Ok, I'm not sure why the video isn't showing up in the post for me. I'll post it if I can figure out how.

I get one of those. Never worried about it. Often it drops on its own, or I just spin it off with my fingers before the next print.

Ok, thank you. I just used the default drag and drop method, and it put the link in the post automatically so not sure why it had the formatting data before and after.

Yea, but just one more thing to have to do between prints. I'm trying to optimize my process to have as little manual touches as possible. Also weird that it didn't do that at first with the PLA.

I've changed the end gcode on Prusa Slicer so that it moves to the front-right corner of the printer instead of the back.
I also have this: https://www.printables.com/model/1536115-prusa-core-one-filament-purge-slider and the lines usually end up in the bin at the bottom.

First question? Does your wife have a sister!
PETG seems to have the most Klingons for me. It usually falls off, but I just check now.
Extra HAM (and eggs some say) Radio - N4MCC
It's not uncommon, especially with longer prints and hygroscopic filaments like TPU and nylon. PLA is less affected but not immune.
Unless you are printing from a drybox and sometimes even then, your filament is absorbing water from the atmosphere all the time. By the end of the print there is enough moisture in the filament to cause oozing - which is also why printing several parts in a row without changing or drying filament in between often gives disappointing results.
Get into the habit of changing filament for every print and drying it - even if it's just switched for a second spool of the same filament.
Cheerio,

No sister but I could also ask my brother-in-law, though his wife might object. 😋

Cheerio,
Actually I've got an S2 dryer running. When I switch my filament, I dry it with the recommended temp & number of hours. Then I feed the filament directly to the core one+ and keep it running during prints so it should stay dry in theory.

Sorry, somehow I missed this reply. Nice, I like it and the slider. I was playing around with moving it to the front right before and what I ran into trying to flick the bugger off somehow when the retract doesn't drop it. I have the nozzle wiper mod on the front left side so I tried to use that to knock it off and then go back to the back right to finally park. It knocked over my print though (doh). I think though with that slider, maybe I can just have it do a close movement to that to knock it off.

IIRC, that final purge is made automatically after the print finishes, i.e. after the last gcode command, so you cannot do anything in the gcode after it.
I think there is a setting on the printer to disable it, in case you want to implement your own way.
