Bad First Layers After Upgrade
We just completed our kit build yesterday going from the 4 to the One. All the calibration passed and we printed a little test that looked great. I started a large project this morning that resulted in the attached image. Can any of you provide some insights as to what may be going wrong? Could this be a belt tension thing or something else? The belt tension app wasn't working, so we had to guess on that.

Among other things I see what look to be fingerprints on the plate, at least in many of the spots. There appears to be something else involved, but not one I've experienced and thus no hypothesis.

I'm pretty sure it isn't fingerprints, since I wipe the plate with alcohol before printing. I do appreciate the response though.

What kind of phone or device are you using? Also the web app version is much better. When plucking the belts, pluck firmly and wait until it registers until plucking again.

What's your layer height, speed, material? I see at least two spots with rough surface that look like slight bubbles - certainly closer to the nozzle than they should be. Fingerprints are likely but not a given... I only find alcohol works well for me on the smooth plate with PLA, and even the I've had issues. I prefer dish soap and hot water.
If fast and low layer height, it may be the bubbling up plus accumulation of filament doing weird things. This looks a lot like the time I tried PETG too fast for the layer height, except it curled at the edges and cascaded from there.

I've washed the plate with soap and water now, with a final wipe of alcohol. Should be very clean. I'll give it another go. Thanks for the tips.

I switched over to the web app and it does register much better. However, the logic is completely wrong. If you square everything with no play using the tensioning screws, then you have to adjust the tensioning screws the exact same amount when tuning the belts or you throw it out of square. If the upper belt is the correct tension and the bottom is not, you can't change just one adjustment screw to fix it.

Yes. Hence the recommendation to make small adjustments. Tightening the upper belt will also have some effect on the lower belt, making it also tighter. You've got to be comfortable with small tweaks, going back and forth between the belts. They're absolutely not independent.
