Utterly confused by presets, physical printers and prusaconnect/link
Can someone help me make sense of this? I have no idea what the difference is between a user preset and a physical printer. And why do I have to add a new physical printer to use PrusaConnect?
But really, the main thing I want to know is why does the button next to "Export G-Code" change if I select the locked "Original Prusa i3 MK3" profile vs the same printer I set up as a "Physical printer"? On the original profile, the button says "Send to connect" and it loads the connect UI where I can select these options:
Set ready and Print Now
Add to print queue
Only copy to printer
Schedule delayed start
But on the physical printer preset, the button in that space just changes to a stylized G and the options I have are:
Upload
Upload and print
I think Prusaslicer needs a simplification of this convoluted process.

You are not alone. I have always been told to use physical printers if I want to send files directly to the printer. When I now changed from a 0.4 nozzle to a 0.5 I had no access to my filament profiles since they were locked to the 0.4. I also needed to remove my Prusa connection to that printer and add it again. From what I have read, the physical printer is the old way of doing it, but I have no idea if that's true or not. I just want to have access to my filament profiles and be able to change nozzles to different sizes now and then, but confused on how to set everything up.

imho you have to do a new printer profile because a 0.5 nozzle will possibly create a higher flow, i changed to a 0.6 HighFlow nozzle and the smallest layer height option is 0.2 then while enabling a 0.35 speed option, the filaments have a 0.4, a 0.5 and a 0.6 option with different speed settings, cooling fan etc. I think this is to protect you from printing with not fitting parameters 🤷♂️
