IP cams that work with PrusaConnect

Long-time Octoprint user here, recently upgraded MK3 -> MK3.5 and checking out PrusaConnect. My Octoprint was using the old ribbon-cable RasPi camera which obviously won't work directly with PrusaConnect so I'm looking for options.

Has anyone tried anything like these mini wifi "spy" cams?. There are dozens to choose from, most use a phone app to view the video stream but I'm wondering if any of them are compatible with PrusaConnect via RTSP/RTMP or whatever protcol it's using. Something like this would work great as a print monitoring cam.

Would the USB-C port on the buddy board work for powering something like this, or is it a data-only port? I believe the Core One uses the same board as the MK3.5/3.9/4, and that is somehow powering the Buddy3D camera through USB, how does that work?

RE: IP cams that work with PrusaConnect

Don't know about the USB connection.  But even if you would attach it to a power bank or USB adapter, you still need to capture the "Camera-IP-address" footage.

Currently using a smaller Axis dome camera that you can perfectly access via API's or URL's.

It is not difficult to insert gcode that waits after every layer and then "does something".
However, can "does something" be an API call, URL call of some sort to some IP address and then continue?

RE:

I just had this same question coming from an Mk3s with OctoPrint that I upgraded.

As it turns out, you can use essentially any camera that can stream via RTSP. I had some old WyzeCam v3s sitting around, flashed with the beta firmware. You could also just repurpose the OctoPrint server with a USB-connected or Pi camera. The real issue is that you need to find a way to put the images from the RTSP feed onto PrusaConnect via the API.

This github project worked perfectly: https://github.com/nvtkaszpir/prusa-connect-camera-script

It also goes through other options of potential cameras to use. Ultimately, it's not as full featured as OctoPrint with Octolapse, but it seems good enough to monitor things.
