Do 2kg spools fit?
I'm fairly new to 3D printing, and don't have any experience with 2kg spools and how the 2kg is distributed compared to a 1kg spool. I've been looking at the Prusament recycled filaments to try, but didn't know if I printed the larger holder if it would even fit.
Thanks for any help!
Just be aware that 2kg (and bigger) spools are not all the same shape. The various printable holders are all OK but may not be exchangeable. 2kg Prusament doesn't fit the holder I made for 2kg Filament PM for eg. One day I must design a generic one...
Cheerio,
RE: Do 2kg spools fit?
Kind of what I was worried about, no consistency. I was mainly wondering about 2kg Prusament spools and if they fit in the enclosure, assuming a proper holder. The holder on the Prusament page doesn't work for the enclosure anyway.
RE: Do 2kg spools fit?
I've seen 2kg spools that are the same diameter as the standard 1kg spools, but fatter.
I've also seen huge honking 2kg spools that would not fit on any spool holder or bracket that I had. The only way to use the filament was to rewind it on two common spools.
RE: Do 2kg spools fit?
Does no one has an answer to this question? It is about a 2 kg Prusament spool in the enclosure. Is there a bigger spool holder? Does the 2 kg spool get in the way with the printhead?
Er, I've never noticed a problem. I use various 2, 2.5 & 3kg spools; if there's a problem I just print a new holder to fit. What I've never done is to print a one-size-fits-all version.

Probably, it's the sane diameter as the 1kg, I took the default holder file and stretched it in the Y direction.
Cheerio,

A little late to the thread, but I've found this extender to the stock holder to be quite useful: Spool Holder 2kg Extension - v2
