Sobre Mí

YouTube has been an integral facet for all sorts of talent to "plug themselves in" since its debut in 2005. Since then, it has only become an even greater melting pot, allowing for aspiring comedians, singer-songwriters, chefs, actors and actresses, rappers, variety hosts, poets, reporters, and more from around the globe to share their talents with the entire world.

Coming with the falling of autumn leaves and wintry weather also comes a slew of holiday albums from talented folks like Cee-Lo Green and Scotty McCreery, but aside from these better-known artists also come a slew of holiday albums or single performances from artists you may not know a whole lot about, but whose songs are converted daily by thousands of people on free youtube to mp3 converter, especially on New Year's Eve.

Many of them come from the aforementioned supermassivelyamazing YouTube facet, and below are five of the best Christmas covers I have found that truly capture the holiday spirit.

1. Clara C - "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

This Korean-American singer hardly even knew her own immense talent, acting as a "closet singer" for many of her years before deciding to reach to YouTube as an outlet for her need to sing. As it turns out, she ended up becoming the first winner of a YouTube-branded talent contest and has since independently released two full albums, The Art In My Heart and esc., toured around the nation with other YouTube-famous singer-songwriters such as David Choi, and has released a multitude of high-quality cover songs on the site on top of all of this. Her incredibly sweet, soulful nuances offer a lot to this cover of a true Christmas classic, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", and the music video which accompanies provides a good show of her winning personality.

2. David Choi and Inch Chua - "The Christmas Song"

Speaking of David Choi, an Orange Country-based Korean-American singer-songwriter who began his road to success based off of a lucky streak at a young age, having brushed shoulders with the likes of David Bowie and Usher on his unique journey to the top of the YouTube charts, having now released three full-length albums on his own: Only You, By My Side, and Forever and Ever, he has released an amazingly genuine version of "The Christmas Song" as a duet with Singaporean, currently LA-based singer-songwriter Inch Chua, who has a similarly impressive YouTube-grown pedigree, having released one full-length album, Wallflower, as well as two studio EPs, called The Bedroom EP and Peace, Love amp; Mistletoe - a four-track Christmas release! These two are accompanied by an IYCA, or Irvine Young Concert Artist, orchestra, providing for a very "true" holiday ambiance.

3. Kiersten Holine - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

And sometimes, when listening to new takes on Christmas classics, you want to hear something a little different to make it seem "fresher" without taking away from that genuine holiday feel. The earnest delivery by this homegrown folk artist recorded live with no accompaniment beyond a pretty acoustic guitar might be just what you're looking for. Kiersten Holine delivers excellent phrasing and encapsulates a genuine feeling of modesty throughout the heartfelt performance.

4. AJ Rafael and Tori Kelly - "All I Want for Christmas is You"

Filipino-American singer-songwriter AJ Rafael may not always have the most "perfect" vocals on the block, but he most certainly makes them beautifully heartfelt with every performance he gives, and in a world filled with melodramatic divas and mundane pop idols still lighting up portions of the charts, perhaps someone like AJ is exactly what this world needs more of. He is accompanied by fellow YouTube artist Tori Kelly on an acoustic delivery of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You", and while neither of them quite having the famous powerhouse's extremely high head voice down-pat, they nuance their take on the record just as well by taking a simpler, sweeter route. AJ's pop-rock leanings mixed with Tori's R B; vocals make for an interesting, well-tailored duet with an excellent sense of harmony.

5. Nick Pitera - "I'll Be Home for Christmas"

Last but most certainly not least on the list is Nick Pitera's crooning falsetto-centered take on "I'll Be Home for Christmas". Nick, being one of very few people on the face of the earth with complete control of his entire vocal range is able to project a tone that is incredibly low, one right at his chest voice, and one that is incredibly high, with each sounding as full and rich as the last. He chooses to lean towards his head voice, which is arguably what has brought him fame during such performances as "Think of Me" from The Phantom of the Opera in a style very similar to that of Sarah Brightman herself. While his stylings may not be for everyone, this man has some admirably massive talent, and it is amazing that he is only as famous as he is across a YouTube format. He offers a brilliant take on a real Christmas chestnut in a way people would never expect.
