Extruder motor is not spinning on tool # error occurs often
I repeatedly get the error "Extruder motor is not spinning on tool #" with my XLIS 5 tool. At the exact same point in the print the printer will reliably have this catastrophic error and freeze, failing the print job. At first this would only happen on tool 4, but now it also happens on tool 2 with different print jobs. I have modified the print slightly and re-sliced it but the same error will occur. I changed the tool with the filament managing screen at the start of the print to tool 1 and the print worked flawlessly.
Looking up the error link sends you to this trouble shooting page, i tried the fix it suggested but nothing has changed. A comment in the page mentions cleaning the extruder cable plug with isopropyl alcohol which is also tried and had no luck.
The fact that this error is repeatable in the EXACT same place to me seems like it is impossible to be a faulty connection, it sounds like it has to be firmware.
This error has happened on tool 4 with two separate print jobs in a row with different materials and models, and it has happened with tool 2 on three prints. I essentially can't use tool 4 or 2 at this point as i cant have prints randomly cancelling partway through when i print large, expensive parts.
Has anyone else had this issue this often and have they managed to fix it?
Thanks.

Apply contact Spray between the toolhead and the cabletree every 6 month or so. And use the "new" cable Covers

I have the same problem with my Prusa XL. So annoying, it seems to be a firmware issue....

Hello,
I also had the "red screens of death" and several attempts until it runs now.

I dried also picture V2 the current "Prusa update" status. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problems for me. Therefore, I read through this and other discussions and tried the following solution – I try to push the plug into the socket via the cables.
V3_01 shows a long hole that I drilled both sides of the plug. There I put a cable tie V3_2, after I have prepared the cable as V3_3.
It should then look like V3_4 and tighten the cable tie and screw tightly.
CAUTION do not pinch the cables at the back or front. The printed plug will probably break when threading through.
Finally, the mounted plug should noticeably push the white plug into the socket 3_5, 3_6.
So far, I have printed for four days and not a single extruder error on three tools. Hope it stays that way... Ciao

Ohh, I almost forgot – clean the connections and spray them with contact spray. Brings additional security.
