Problems in selecting the nozzle for support material
I am printing a two-color object that needs supports and a brim. Nozzles 1 and 2 are the PLA colors; nozzle 3 is the support material (PVA in this case).
In Printer Settings: “Multiple Extruders”, I have set “Perimeter extruder” and “Support material/raft/skirt extruder” to 3. “Support Material- Style to Organic and “Top contact Z distance” to 0(soluble). In Filaments: I have set the filament to be PCA. I have also set “Supports” to “Everywhere” and checked “Brim”
When I slice the object, there is no indication that nozzle 3 is used – only 1 and 2. Both 1 and 2 are used to print the brim and the tower – not 3.
What am I missing?
RE: Problems in selecting the nozzle for support material
I don't have an XL, but I have used multi material interfaces in dissimilar materials, with My Mk3.9 and MMU3.
This model is one of the wings off 'Glory' by John Freund Racing in Printables ( as an example)
for Demonstration purposes I set filament 3 as BVOH, for supports (it was a spare extruder in this section of the model)
then in 'Print settings > MultiMaterial' I set filament 3 for supports and support interfaces
(ordinarily I would only set support interfaces when I am using PLA to support PETG or Vice Versa, but in this case that option didn't work as expected...)
I Suspect this allocation of extruder to support functions is what you are missing(see Below)
this knowledge base article, may help

the original author of this model used Paint on supports and multi material painting, which may have a bearing upon why the support interfaces didn't seem to work as expected

RE: Problems in selecting the nozzle for support material
Best to upload your 3mf project file.Zip compress it, then use the Attach file button below the post edit field. This way we can see your settings. I just did a quick test, and in my hands extruder 3 is used for supports, so I suspect there's something in your settings that is wrongly configured.
