Printing ABS-CF, needing 50c in the enclosure

With the Prusa enclosure it does print, with a few issues. The instructions say that I should have a temperature in the enclosure of 50c. The temperature on the unit gets to about 34c. Is there a simple solution to increasing the temperature? Are there mini heaters that I can set the temperature etc...

How long have you let the bed preheat at 100?  30 minutes should get you to 50c. 

I don’t own the printer and enclosure yet. Is it possible that there is a setting not allowing your enclosure to get hotter? Aka cooling fan turning on above 30?

For small prints there are no issues. The print that I had some warping was an 18 hour print. I just sent the file to the printer. 

Are you suggesting I preheat the bed and chamber? Will it then keep that temperature? I still think I need a small heater that fits inside. Ideally one where I can set the temperature.

I’m suggesting that you raise the bed up and then heat the entire bed for 30 minutes before starting the print. 

After that you might be able to control the cooling fan to keep more heat in the enclosure. Contact Prusa for more advice on this.  

You do not want to add a mini heater inside your enclosure. It isn’t built with that in mind. You will void warranty and put yourself at risk. I know it’s tempting but please look for other ways.

I turned off the fan on the printhead. So initially the temp is in the min 40’s c. No issue. When the bed moves down and also seen the issue printing during the night, temperature in room goes down.

i see there are a number of small heaters on Amazon. Any experience?

I will also try Prusa support. Seems like a missing feature to control the air temperature in the enclosure.

My workaround is start early in the morning and print all day. Keeping the room warm.

Not sure how I missed it there is a Chamber temperature setting in Prusa slicer. See if this works. Has anyone experience of using this option with the XL? Where is the temperature sensor? How can I see what it is reporting? Is it a wireless connection with the display in the enclosure door?

Have you tried contacting prusa yet?  Looking forward to hearing their response?  

Do this at your own risk of course.  You could add a heating pad.  They don't get nearly as hot as heaters.  That should give you the bump in heat that you need.  Finally add in a controller for extra safety.  Set the max temp to say 50 to 55 and it will auto shut off the heater once you the desired temps are reached and turn it back on as needed.

This might require replacement additional parts in your enclosure with abs or asa.  You'll not have to spend the extra expense of cf.

You will probably need to add a fan mod for the mcu otherwise it will stop the print in if the temperature exceeds 85.  The board is already hot so the fan is a good idea.

Still need to contact Prusa. Looks like the Prusa XL just is not up to the task of printing filaments that require heat. Will need to start looking at the competition.
