Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
Question - The printer does great on the first layer then when it gets to the second layer it stops extruding fully there is still a little that comes out but it will stop that on layer three. I have done everything I know to do such as clean the nozzle then I replaced the nozzle, then made sure nothing was clogging the extruding gears they were perfect all cables were plugged in on the head. I also changed filament types. I also can purge the printer and it comes out perfect. Knowing that I flashed the software and reset my slicer, but still, it would just stop extruding. Here are my current print specs.
Prusa XL - 2T 0.4 Brass Nozzle
PETG / ABS
Sumo Print Case - Internal Temp. 95F / 35C - Humidity 35%
Sunlu S4 Dryer
PrusaSlicer - 2.7.2
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
I am hitting this exact issue with exactly the same setup (same enclosure, same dryer). It started happening after upgrading to 6.0 FW, however downgrading FW didn't solve the issue, so it must have been a coincidence.
Were you to find a solution yet? I feel like I've tried all the obvious remedies...
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
More details for my issue. I'm attempting a 2 color print, both PETG
- Extruder 1 begins Layer 1, perfect result
- Tool change to extruder 2
- Extruder 2 begins Layer 1, perfect result
- Tool change to extruder 1
- Extruder 1 begins Layer 2, stops extruding soon after beginning and doesn't extrude for the remainder of the print, however the print continues as if nothing is wrong.
After inspection, the extruder looks fine, no sign of clog or jam, and attempting another print immediately results in exactly the same issue.
Note - like the OP, I'm printing in an enclosure, but there is a fan to regulate internal temp below 90F, so I don't think it's a heat issue.
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
I tried changing the role of each extruder and switching the filaments between them to see if it was some strange slicing issue or a filament issue. This resulted in Extruder 1 printing color 2, but still exhibiting the same stop in extrusion on the second layer soon after the tool change. This confirms there is something wrong with extruder #1. I did a cold pull with PLA on the extruder and subsequently printed a single color print (no tool changes) with extruder #1, no issues. I then tried to reprint the 2 color print, and the same stop in extrusion occurred...
Anyone have any idea what might be wrong with this extruder or what I could check? (seeing how I already did a cold pull and it came out clean).
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
Having similar issues...seems all of the posts I find folks have the issue but a fix is ever shown
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
Check the enclosure discussions. The idler levers need to be reprinted from high temp material. The stock parts are PETG and soften when used in an enclosure until the pressure is not sufficient to move filament.
RE: Printer Stops Extruding - HELP
Same problem here…
I have the SUMO enclosure with fan installed and doors open.
The problem seems to be only on the extruder one, second is working well.
I replaced the Idler Lever with the PCCF and printed well one batch, second fails again.
This is frustrating…
