Printer stopped. Frozen with 7 hrs to go

Im about half way through a 14 hr print and the printer just stopped moving. It froze while in the process of extruding from tool#4. The filament also stopped extruding. I pushed the "pause" button hoping that I could resume it. Now its just stuck with "pausing" showing on the screen. Are there any tricks for getting this going again? Or should I start over?

I have heard of people successfully manually (and VERY carefully) editing .gcode files to resume a print where it failed.

I have never tried it myself.

I would think that the key to making it work would be to know the exact Z level at which the print failed, and to be familiar enough with the startup gcode to know what needs to be in it to make it work and what does not.

jsw,

Thanks for the reply. I think that's a bit above my paygrade. I'm not familiar with g-code.

That being said...

I left the printer overnight. Nothing changed. I decided it was time to stop the print and start over. So, I turned the printer off and back on expecting that it would restart and be ready for a new print. Low and behold the print automatically resumed where it had left off! I am now an official fanboy!
