How to multimaterial paint fill shapes in stl using prusa slicer?

I am trying to print this life counter for a game: https://makerworld.com/en/models/568628-mtg-commander-life-counter-tracker-00-99-dials#profileId-488521

With some tinkering, I was able to successfully buket fill the heart and payer shapes embedded in the STL for the first part of the print.

However, despite being able to see the numbers in the part, both when I change the view clipping while multi-material painting (first photo) and a brief flash when switching from 3d editor view to preview (second photo)  I have been been unable to actually paint the numbers embedded in the actual counters.

Because I found this on a site, I don't have access to the original files. Is there a trick to painting these embedded shapes in prusa slicer? Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

RE:

If the numbers are against the bed then you need to flip the part over to get to them as the paint function doesn't work through the "virtual bed".  Once done just flip it over again...

Thank you for your response. I wasn't able to figure out how to paint the existing files so instead I edited the stl files (not the original) to re-add the numbers back in. Not idea, but it seems to be working.
