"Holes" at the end of thin structures

Any suggestions what could be going wrong with my prints here? It's a train track where one of the corners always shows this issue. The diagonally opposed corner shows some very minor  almost unnoticeable similar issues while the other corners are fine (which suggests that the direction of travel has something to do with it perhaps). THis is on a 2T XL using both PLA and PETG.

Not all prints are this bad and the issue is almost always on the outside only. Very few prints were bad enough that the issue affected even the inside (and some prints are fine).

Any hints on how to fix this would be very welcome! 🙂

Correction: the photo is with PETG and while the issue does exist with PLA it's almost unnoticeable, it's only with PETG it gets this bad.

From my guts the first thing I'd try is lowering your print temperature by 10°C and give it another try.

For me it looks like a combination of too high temp and some overextrusion. But always only change one parameter at once. Otherwise you can't tell what it really was if it is resolved. 😉
