Gaps in multicolor prints

Hello

i have issues printing fine walls with 2 different colors (same brand, same line, different color: ELEGOO RapidPETG orange and grey).

The 3d model has no gaps inbetween. The output has visible lines and gaps. Any ideas how to fix?

Printer: Prusa XL, two print heads. Latest firmware and prusa slicer.

RE: Gaps in multicolor prints

Your filament is damp which is interfering with stop/start extruder pressures.

And you have a shallow incline colour boundary so there will be many of those stops and starts.

Dry your filament and slow down the print in that area.

Thanks Diem for the quick reply. Already tested it but not with the hoped result.  Will Look into other options. The prints are also very brital there and break easy. Maybe i have to drop this mutlicolor idea...

Narrow prints are always fragile as they depend on interlayer adhesion.  Try laying the part flat on the plate.

Your extruder seem to be misaligned. Please try multi-tool-manual-calibration-xl.

As a consequence, at those narrow pillars with sloped color transition the mating surfaces might even loose contact.

Thanks Blauzahn, will try that too.

But is this calibration not covered by the initial "pin in the middle" setup?

RE: Gaps in multicolor prints

Yes it is. But if you changed anything relevant afterwards it can deviate. This can be e.g. a change or even just take out of a nozzle, a bent nozzle or change of belt tension. You can of course recalibrate with the pin. Please consider, that used nozzles covered with debris are no pristine cones centered exactly vertically around the nozzle orifice anymore -- if they ever were when new. Nevertheless, in your case, I estimate it will improve alignment. You can verify the result of the automatic pin method with the vernier pattern shown in the multi tool manual calibration.
