Different temps on different printheads

So I'm trying to figure out how to get the two extruders to use separate temps. Printing PLA supports and PETG body. I set up the filament profile with the temps for each extruder but when it prints it defaults both to the PLA on #2 extruder? I tried tuning and it won't change the extruder temps. set it where you want but nothing changes. I must be missing something. Right now I'm missing several days of prosthetic production trying to make this thing work.

RE: Different temps on different printheads

Did you tell the printer to use the extruder#1 for the supports/interfaces and print the main model explicitly with #2 extruder?

Please zip and upload the 3mf file with your settings and the model you want to print with Multimaterialsupports.

Printing PLA and PETG at the same time? See the Guide for MultiMaterialSupports ----- Ejecting Buffer cassettes is not satisfying? May the Fork be with you!

You don't need to cancel your production. You can see the results in the slicer. There is no need for stopping production until you test the new settings. The Tests can be done with small objects like this. They are made for fast results and will not interrupt the production for long.

RE: Different temps on different printheads

You have to make sure that you set the following: Print Settings => Multible Extruders

  • Support material/raft/skirt extruder
  • Support Material/raft interface extruder

=> set both to the extruder which has the support material loaded

If you combine PLA and PETG: Print Settings => Multible Extruders

  • Wipe tower extruder

=> Set that to the extruder which holds PETG

Another important side note: Make a new filament profile to either PETG or PLA (if model is PLA => new one for PETG and wise versa) to make sure that the bed temperature will be the desired bed temperature. Both loaded filaments should have the same bed temperature in their settings. Otherwise you can't be sure which bed temperature you'll end up with.

Thanks everyone. Crossing over from our MK3S+ printers has not been very intuitive. DHLs utterly flumoxed delivery and several issues have just cost me a lot of time which has set me way behind on taking care of getting people prosthetics with our NGO. Being frustrated isn't helping me learn this new printer!

RE:

The basic procedure is almost too simple - anyone used to figuring out the complexities of older printing systems is likely to overlook it....

Set your filaments with the drop-down menus.

Define the main print extruder(s) do not leave on default.

Enable supports.

Go to: Print Settings > Multiple Extruders  and set the Support extruder number(s)

And the settings per filament will be taken care of for you...

Worth experimenting:  When using PLA and PETG to support each other it can sometimes be worthwhile making a new copy of the support filament profile and defining it as Soluble (even though it isn't - it tightens the interface) — Each case is different so don't do this blindly.

Cheerio,
