Blobbing on tool change - failed prints

Consistent issues with certain filaments on large blobbing / oozing when unparked, leading to an overextrusion buildup and eventual failure for the print - either on the print itself or the wipe tower if enabled. Anyone have tips on settings that may help? One of the worst ones for this is an Amolen wood pla that I like. Only minor stringing and it prints fine once it's past the blob. Blob visibly forms on the resting pad as it waits.

The fact that your ramping lift isn't ticked nor is it flagging it being unticked as not being default suggests to me that your config files are way out of date. You should def check for config updates, update, and try out the latest defaults.

RE:

Sorry if I sound out of it, but where would the updated config files be? I am using prusaslicer 2.8.0 and the defaults that came with it don't have ramping lift ticked or marked as default (unless I am somehow messing that up as well by not importing them correctly).

Here's where to check for config updates:

If youre already on 2.8.0 then it is weird for your default Travel lift parameters to be that way unless you didn't actually have the default profile selected. Here's what my default XL 0.4 printer profile extruder 1 page looks like:

Thank you for your assistance! I tried updating the config files and it says they were all up to date, so I don't know what's going on. I transferred your settings anyways. It has helped a lot, but still failing due to blobbing / oozing when I'm not around to watch. I'm going to keep tweaking with the aggressiveness of the settings and I've also tossed the spool into an extreme dry box to do everything possible to get the last bit out of there. I'm not getting much stringing, it's the oozing when parked that's seems to be the issue. Thank you again for taking the time to answer, overall print quality is definitely higher with the changes.

RE:

Can you describe the oozing when parked more? Is it literally while on the nozzle seal that it happens, or does it ooze just after being picked up and it's leaving the seal to start printing?

If the former, you may want to look at adjusting the height of the nozzle seal: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/4-first-run_468832#663356

If the latter, check your retraction lengths and idle temperatures (especially if your configs are outdated and/or weird).

I've had nozzle brushes/cups installed since nearly day one (something like https://www.printables.com/model/683786-original-prusa-xl-nozzle-brush-holder), and they do catch a fair amount and help keep the nozzles clean.

Oh, and it sounds like your install is doing strange stuff if it's not recognizing config updates. I've had inconsistent results merging in changes from time to time too but not wholesale lack of update. You may want to re-install into a fresh directory and start from scratch, if even just to compare; who knows what other outdated/wrong settings you might be running into. Those profiles have gotten tweaked a lot since launch.

I had the same issue lately. But you can update them manually using the files provided here: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/manual-profile-download_727206
Just start the Configuration Wizzard (File => Configuration => Configuration Wizzard...) to load them manually into PrusaSlicer:

Manually load Profiles in Wizzard
