Black Filament Contamination on White Prints – How to Fix It?

Hello.

I printed a white text on a black background. There are pieces of black filament visible on the white area. How can I get rid of this problem?

PLA filament, printed at 220°C and also at 200°C, but the result is the same. I still have pieces of black filament on the white background.GTA-a

The regularly spaced marks are what some people call zits; they are left on the build sheet if the nozzle is oozing during the level probing before the print starts.  Oozing is almost always caused by moisture boiling off the filament in the hot end and messing with the internal pressures.  The moisture arrives in damp filament.  It gets into the filament from even slightly moist air.

Dry your filament and don't leave a printer loaded for long before printing; unload and dry your filament between prints.

Cheerio,

Thanks for your reply, @Diem. I bought a dryer for four filaments. I'll dry the filament and update you in my next response by the end of the week.

You could also pause the print after the nozzle purges and use a scraper to make sure the bed is clean.

Another thing you can do is preheat the nozzle before the print to printing temperature for like 5 minutes and it will ooze.  Eventually it'll stop oozing.  Brush the nozzle and then start the print.

Thanks, @Diem! Thanks, @Brian! Drying the filament and thoroughly cleaning the bed and nozzle helped—there are no more contaminants.
