2 Questions, 1 post how to print?

Hi, I am a little confused on the change extruder function on a particular level. Is it possible to change the layer height at that level when you change the color/extruder? If so, how? Should I add a modifier, and can I do this at a specific level? I have attached the file and would like the letters at the very end of the print to change colors. To do this I have turned off the wipe tower and inserted a change extruder (don't understand the difference between change color and change extruder option?) and was hoping to change the layer height with this change?

The next question is, I have purchased 4mm nozzles for my XL. I think I can do this, but can I use 6 in on one tool and 4 on another? Does anyone know what the time increase average would be on an estimated 1hr print between 6 and 4 nozzles???

If you want to change by height you will probably find the variable layer height function easiest - button at top of window.

Yes, it's advanced but easier if you make a new printer profile with the per-extruder settings and one or more print profiles with layer heights that can be handled by all the nozzle sizes you have installed.  You have to roll your own as the number of possible combinations is huge...

It varies hugely on a print by print basis, it can halve the time, especially for some large prints, or make no detectable difference; if you are planning this for time saving then don't expect miracles.  It is more useful to improve the strength/stiffness of selected areas of a part, or, with a smaller nozzle, to add fine detail, eg, small label text or fine graticules, to an otherwise robust print.

Cheerio,
