Wipe tower ALWAYS breaks free from print bed.

So just like the title above says, every time I print multiple material/colors the wipe tower pops off the bed which ruins the purging process between tool changes.  It seems that the wipe tower that is used for my MK3/MMU3 works much better.  Granted I realize it wastes much more material.

Is there any way to change the wipe tower geometry for the XL to be more like the rectangular shape that is used with the MMU?  Or can I add walls to the current wipe tower with the conical support to maybe make the rectangular portion of that tower to have a wider base or more walls?

So this happened after I think not only did the wipe tower come loose but the print itself may have also.

It's a shame too because I was about 65%-75% into a 13 hour print which was looking excellent until I woke up this morning to this mess.

There's an entire section of PS dedicated to the tower settings, several of which can affect the width of the tower, as well as a couple more settings in Filament Settings. There isn't an option to add additional perimeters. From the image you provided it looks like your tower didn't have a brim whatsoever, so that's the first thing I'd change.

But these spots here look like the nozzle actually went down to puncture the printed tower which is a bit more concerning. I'd even guess that was what ultimately pulled the tower from the sheet. And if so, I don't know what caused or how to fix it.

Thank you for the reply.  I did have a brim (default 3mm) but it kind of unraveled when it broke free from the plate.  You can see the remnants of the brim here:

I will try the settings in the filament section.  Also I was told that the tweaking "Purge Line Spacing" could help as well.

RE:

Why?!?!?!?!?

It's almost every time I print something that requires a wipe tower.  The tower NEVER stays attached to the bed.  Or if the brim stays on the bed the tower will break off half way up and cause a failure.  The wipe tower functionality is the worse, most frustrating part about the XL, by far!  This print was 93.7% complete when the tower failed.  Can someone please enlighten me with the secret to successfully using the wipe tower, PLEASE?
