Tool head #2 keeps homing X/Y axis every layer it's used.
First off I accidentally put this post in the single head forum. I apologize to the moderators if I seem like I am spamming.
My printer has been having an issue where whenever it picks up the #2 tool head it will move all the way forward to the front left corner of the x/y gantry to home for every layer that head is used. This has not been effecting the prints at all, but I still remembered when I first set up the printer it did not have this issue. I did some trouble shooting and these are the results I have come up with. First off I did not notice any of these issues until after I switched the firmware to 5.1.0 alpha and the slicer to 2.7.0 beta. I later switched the firmware to 5.1.0 beta and the issue still persisted. So from here I rolled back the firmware to 4.7.0 (what my machine originally came with) and the head stopped homing every layer. So I thought that it may be the firmware. So I flash it back to 5.1.0 beta and I see the issue again. Ok so maybe it's a firmware issue.
At this point I thought to myself lets try using the the slicer I was using when I first started. 2.6.1 and see how that works with the latest firmware beta 5.1.0. I load up my test print and the #2 tool head is not homing each layer it's picked up. At this point I am confused. I did redo the entire calibration setup again before all these tests to make sure I didn't leave any of the mounts loose, but all my prints before this have turned out great and showed no signs of anything being loose.
Depending on what combination of firmware and slicer versions I use gives me mixed results. My conclusion is either the beta firmware or slicer is having an issue with my one tool head or it's simply the tool head itself. As stated the printer is printing great, but just seems odd the one tool head keeps homing every time it's picked up. I have calibrated the head itself and the full set a couple of times and it just seems to continue. Just odd it does it with different combos our firmware and software.
Has anyone else had an issue like this. I am open to suggestions for test. Hopefully this issue may go away with the firmware and slicer full release. Hare are two of my latest prints that still turning out fantastic. Happy printing everyone.
RE:
Interested in the solution, I'm having this issue with mine as well, 5 tool print and tool 3 keeps rehoming when it get picked up.
Edit: just noticed its happening occasionally on tool 2 as well. I'm going to watch the print more closely
RE:
I just noticed something on mine. I have the brushes installed for cleaning the nozzle right at the dock. I wondered if it was the crash detection causing it, so I removed them. I still get them, but not nearly as much.
I wonder if there is a way to ignore the crash detection in the area of the cleaning brushes
RE: Tool head #2 keeps homing X/Y axis every layer it's used.
I have stock configuration 5T (no brushes) and tool 3 homes every time - looks like maybe a collision with the wipe tower. It happens just after the tool has moved over the wipe tower.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

So I set the crash sensitivity to low and put the brushes back on for the latest print, so far so good

RE: Tool head #2 keeps homing X/Y axis every layer it's used.
Update, I've not seen any crashes in my last few prints with the sensitivity set to low

Tried the suggestions in this thread, wasn't able to get a difference. turns out what solved it was tightening the loose screws inside the tool changer assembly (Prusa XL Semi-Assembled Setup, Section 5, Step 5 https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-tool-changer-assembly_504693#504929 )
