The filament delivery systen is really bad-any ideas?

The filament delivery arrangement on the multitool printer SUCKS because the guide tubes are too long.  Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have an idea, and I'm going to prototype it.

I know the filament sensors are a big part of the problem, due to the drag they create, especially for TPU.  I feel like the tubes get pinched, especially on E5.  I replaced the tube for E5 with a 3mm ID because I've been doing prints with Aquasys 120 which is quite a bit stiffer than standard filament(it's a soluble filament) and those bends with the standard 2mm id felt like they were creating drag because the filament didn't like to bend quit as much as pla/petg.   what were you thinking as an improvement.   are you printing in an enclosure, that's a consideration.  My XL is in an enclosure so without drilling holes in it, I don't have a ton of alternate filament routes.

Mount your spools above. One 90 degree bend and about half a meter shorter.

yeah I'm likely not going to cut holes in my 800 dollar enclosure haha.  or at least not right away.   My intent is still to have containment for when I hook up ventilation to try ABS/ASA printing.

I'm using the 3dupfitters ones.  I designed my own spool holders that fit around the acrylic + take 608 bearings.

I posted the design on printables

I generally like the enclosure.   Boxomoenclosures didn't have one.  Boxomo is who I used for the enclosures for my MK4 printers, and that fully contains the printers, however with the size and weight of the XL, it's not super reasonable to have a fully enclosing enclosure.  Since you have to get at the spools, toolheads, etc.  I do wish the 3dupfitters one had a door in the back, but I did talk to the guy at 3dupfitters and he said he'd definitely keep that in mind for later revs of the enclosure.  Super friendly folks at 3dupfitters.

RE:

The one I'm designing will cost about $200 depending on the filament. I'm using 1/16" lexan, double pane, instead of heavier material single pane. I replaced the filament holders on my 2 tool machine too, but I printed the bearings. Worked out nicely.

Nice, my Uncle used to work in the Lexan factory in PA lol.   He brought home all the scraps.  Had all kind of stuff made out of it.   I'll be interested to see what yours looks like.  The one I have is pretty solid, but if something better ever comes along, I'd be willing to take a look.
