You have to change the hardware on the printer, and then in the slicer you have to change the Printer to a .25 version which should automatically change the Print Settings over to a .25 version. These are the main differences between (structural) .4 and .25:

The biggest difference that you can 'easily' see in the slicer would be the narrower extrusions -> more detail in your model mainly at the corners or start/end points of a line of extrusion, not so much the actual "line-part" beit straight or curved.

You can also mess with "G-code resolution" in Print Settings > Advanced and see if that helps get more fidelity.

Here's an old example test print I did a while back with a white .25 nozzle text and a brown .6 nozzle, its not the best comparison but it's already on hand. Mainly look at the size difference of the start/end corners of a printed line - that's the 'added detail' a smaller nozzle can do. A .4 vs .25 would be less of an obvious difference but you should see some if your model 'requires' or has that level of detail.

Thanks for the comments, the comparison document will be really useful- I will go through all my settings and make sure they are all correct.

Another question though- you said you did the text with a .25 and the rest with  a .6 nozzle- how did you persuade the slicer to do that?  What we have been told by Prusa is the XL can only have all 5 nozzles the same size? I would love to have two different size nozzles on my XL, and have the slicer slice accordingly.

You can read through this thread to try out multi nozzle size printing. There are 'update posts' in the replies that correct some points in the OP, so make sure to read those as well. It's got big/small not/obvious limitations but it's at least very possible.
