Prusa XL 2TH - I'm at my wits' end over the “Extruder not spinning” error

I need your help.

On my Prusa XL with two extruder heads from 2025, I’ve been getting more and more “Extruder 2 not spinning” errors since yesterday.

I know now that it’s probably just the Dwarfboard connector. No sooner said than done. I cleaned the contacts gently and carefully with a brass brush, cleaned them with isopropyl alcohol, and made sure the cable wasn’t under tension when reassembling.

Printed for almost 5 hours straight—I was thrilled.

After that, nothing worked anymore. Every print fails during the first two layers with the same error mentioned above. Oddly enough: In between, I noticed that it was printing but not extruding any filament. I flipped up the idler and lo and behold, the stepper motor was standing still and the printer kept running.

I completely disassembled the print head, inspected everything, cleaned it, and reassembled it. I even cleaned the Click Mate connector for the stepper motor on the Dwarfboard and gave it a light brush.

What puzzles me is that if it really is a contact issue, then the connection on both sides must be losing the signal. After all, a pin always has two contact surfaces. It certainly won’t help, but I’ll have to test everything—all 12 cables.

Or should I just do a firmware update instead????

It's working!I

thoroughly cleaned all the connectors and pins again and blew them out with compressed air.

I probably overlooked one or even two pins during the previous cleaning sessions, or didn’t clean them properly.

The first sign that it had worked was the steady tool light—no flickering—and at that moment I thought, “Yes, now it has to work again.”

I highly recommend using contact Spray instead of Isopropanol

(WD40 oder sowas)
