Prints not rectangular
Hi. This is my first post. Appologies if I missed the answer is already available.
My prints are not rectangular. I realized that when I printed the enXLosure. The diagonals of a full size square are at least 2mm off! When I measured the diagonals of the preassembled top frame I realized that this is is already out of shape.
How can I fix that? This isn't something that can be calibrated.
RE: Prints not rectangular
could you post an image to help us fully understand. 2mm across what span.
RE: Prints not rectangular
Measure the two diagonals of a printed square or rctangle which is nearly the size of the printbed. One is 2 mm longer than the other one.
Measure from the corners between rear profile (in front of the print head bay) and Y rails to the diagonal edge of the other Y rail. One is 3 mm longer than the other one.
RE: Prints not rectangular
It seems nobody has that problem and Prusa support has a hard time understanding the issue.
Since it is less important that the frame is parallel shifted, I preferred not to disassemble the whole printer. Instead I only removed the metal covers so I can reach the screws, that mount the X rail to the Y sleds. Then I loosened these screws, bent the X rail so it is perpendicular to the Y rails and retightened the screws. Additionally I glued some shimming on one side of the front stop, so the X rail touches both stops at the same time. Now at least the diagonals of the print are equal length.
I don't know how this went through quality control. Maybe prusa isn't aware, that in an XY-Core the rails have to be perfectly perpendicular to each other?
RE: Prints not rectangular
I´m having this issue as well. Were you able to align it without loosening the servo motors? The screws between the rail and servo seems impossible to reach otherwise?
RE: Prints not rectangular
You need to remove the side covers so you can reach the screws on the sleds. Then you need to loosen these screews push the sled on position and retighten them.
Then I shimmed the stop on the longer side side, so the sled bounces on both stops, since I didn't bother aligning the frame.
Loosening the servos does nothing to the alignment.
