NTP Server

Hello,

I recently purchased an XL and have been trying to get Prusa Connect for several weeks now. After spending much of those weeks working with my corporate IT and setting up rules to allow the printer on the network, I continue to get the TLS error when adding the printer to Prusa Connect.

Are there any options available to change the address of the NTP server or any workarounds to allow this service to work by using a local NTP server?

Has anyone else had any success with getting Prusa Connect working on a corporate network?

Thanks,

David

RE: NTP Server

1 NTP - I guess recent firmware allows to set custom NTP server, otherwise you can add firewall rewrite rules to redirect traffic directed to Prusa time servers to a local server https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/3523#issuecomment-1858816452

2. TLS error - if your firewalls are doing mitm it checks for upstream connections then affair there may be an option to use custom proxy in printer config or disable TLS verification or set the printer to connect to different proxy - more details https://github.com/nvtkaszpir/3d-print/tree/main/prusa-connect-proxy

If your corporate proxies require custom certificates to connect to it then unfortunately it would require firmware rebuild to bake in CA, in that case talk to Prusa directly.

RE: NTP Server

Newest fimware 6.2.4 still does NOT allow to set an IP address of the NTP, it is still hard coded. Grrr, Prusa! Hard coded addresses that point to Prusa and no way to configure NTP (or a proxy server...). We're in the 21st century and companies have (strict!) network security rules 😉

RE:

Afair they define ntp pool as prusa3d.pool.ntp.org , so you can do a DNS override to point to io in the  local network. Its way easier than before...

RE:

...forgot to mention (and time to edit my comment has run out) that 6.2.4 is the newest firmware for our MK4S+MMU3, sorry if I confused someone.

A DNS override is possible, for this I have to file a request with the network department (actually it will be something like a project..), and it is not free of charge. I will have a very (!) hard time to explain to the admins or my boss or to the security department why I do not simply configure the IP address of the NTP, they won't believe that it is not possible. Or that the printer (and Slicer) still do not know how to operate thru a proxy. 🙁
