Heatbed tile fail, 2 month old XL 5H -- out of action?
Tile 11 seems to have failed, verified by cross-cabling it with Tile 10, after which Tile 10 was reported bad.
Error is unexpected current. I was printing fine yesterday, but on powering on this morning and starting a print job, it failed while heating up the bed. I checked all the cables, that didn't fix it.
There's no visible physical damage. The only difference from the other tiles is that the while the connectors on the bottom of the other tiles are all white, on Tile 11 it seems a bit yellowed/tanned, maybe due to excessive heat?
I've got a ticket into Printed Solid (where I bought it) so we'll see how it goes.
But until then, is the XL unusable?
I tried unplugging the Tile 11 cable and the machine naturally red-screens with a bad-temp-sensor error.
Maybe I could try printing small stuff far away from Tile 11 on the bed, but that might be risky.
Anyone experience this before and have any advice?
Thanks.
P.S. this failure of a new machine doesn't particularly bother me. The XL has been very solid during the almost 300 hours of printing I've done on it in the last two months, and infant mortality in electronics happens.
RE: Heatbed tile fail, 2 month old XL 5H -- out of action?
Update: Printed Solid got back to me first thing this morning, and a new heatbed tile will be shipped to me today.
However, it seems that until it gets here, I can't print anything (unless I use my spouse's resin printer, but it can't print what I want.)
