Anyone using Bambu Support for PLA/PETG? Is it working for you?
I just finished assembling my XL 5TH about 3-4 days ago and, unfortunately, I have not been able to get a single print complete that requires support. I'm a bit puzzled by this. When I had my X1C and P1S, I didn't run into a single issue with supports, so I know it's something to do with my settings, but I have no idea what.
I'm using the following filaments:
- Prusament Galaxy Black (Toolhead #1)
- Bambu Support for PLA/PETG (Toolhead #4).
I've been researching the facebook group and discord channel almost nonstop for the last few days with not much luck. What's happening is this:
- PLA prints just fine for the first 13 layers.
- It shifts over to the support interface layer, using toolhead #4 for layer 14 (support interface layer).
- This prints just fine (after lots of tweaking).
- It shifts back to PLA to continue on layer 15.
- PLA does not bond to the support interface layer, therefore causing a blob and dragging, ultimately pulling parts off the print bed.
Are there any suggestions on how to manage this? I am using the Breakaway Interface print settings, along with some tweaks to the bambu support filament preset settings. I have attached the print settings, and filament settings for both filaments here: Print & Filament Settings
I'm not quite sure what else to really tweak here, and there's only a little bit of conversation that I've seen around this, so I'm not quite sure what everyone's doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Pla and petg normally dont Stick together. Printing on each other without geometrical Bonding doesnt Work. I Design my Support If needed in CAD.
You can try to lower the distance between Support and object to 0 so it would hopefully survive printing

Thanks a lot for this information! I am curious, however, on how BambuLab printers are able to do this so well? They have been able to perfect the PLA + PETG combination when one is used as support.

I'd slice with both slicers then go and compare the settings at that same specific layer and area (horizontal slider in sliced preview). Might be a difference in temp or speeds or something and that's how to find out.
Could also be a difference in the interface pattern. Not specifically using Bambu filament, but I've had some luck switching between rectilinear and concentric depending on the situation.
Only other thing I seem to keep seeing when using Bambu filament on Prusa machines is that they seem to need a different pressure advance value from PS slicer defaults, so you may want to tune that too.
